Hi all, Just wondering where some of you have located your battery in your Kitfox 4? I'm sure the position will want to move depending if you have a 582 verses a Jabiru or 912, and even more with a Subaru. I know that the Avids tend to be a bit nose heavy, is this true also of the Kitfox? Is anyone on the list running a Jabiru engine in a Classic 1200? How is the performance? I have a 1500' strip with tall trees on the end and while I have no problem getting out of it with my Avid with a Jabiru, I've always done it with just myself in the plane and wouldn't concider it with a large passenger. I'm been looking at the fusaloge and thinking what all needs to be done before it can be covered and it would be a lot easier to put in a battery tray in the back now rather than later if it's possible it will be needed to balence t===============

I just installed a larger battery in my Model IV 1200, I relocated it to behind the passenger seat. This will require a new W&B do to location and going from a 10lb battery to an 18lb battery.

I have mine installed on pilots side as in instructions. Have added a lot of options since then and balance is fine. Do not believe in these huge batteries. I use standard motorcycle 14BS. I replace it every 2 years even though it appears perfect. If you are stalled somewhere because of battery, just go to your local auto store, put in the acid in the store and by the time you get back you are ready to fly. Battery is so light you can take it home with you. Kitfox Model IV-1200 1340 hours. Clint

On my classic 4 with a Subaru the battery is in the tail as far back as it could go on a plate that drops down for access
