I thought that some Yak Owners would be interested to know that I have just received a letter from the Smolensk aircraft factory in Russia, where all 18Ts have been made, and where they are currently producing sixty 18Ts as part of an order for the Russian Ministry of Transport.
They are offering new 18T's to me and what is interesting is that the price ex-works is Euro 455,000 (the Russians have given up US Dollars), which today is US $719,000. The Ministry of Transport order incorporates long-range wing tanks; 3-blade propeller and quite sophisticated avionics, and it is not clear to me whether this price covers those items - but I suspect that they will not be selling a lot to the West.

Very unlikely. I can imagine buying other planes with the same
characteristics for far less money.

On one hand,I suspect a new Bonanza is actually more money,but I don't see a market for new 18T's at that price.The problem that Smolensk THINKS that,having sold 60 for that order of price,there is a real market in the West!
