Is it possible to install a BNC splice (two connectors and a splice) in
my radio antenna cable, without adversly affecting the performance of
the radio? Thanks in advance for any help.

Define adversely.... With quality connectors and properly done, typical spec is .1dB insertion loss. Total .2dB or about 5% loss for the pair.
