Actually, pilots are not licensed, they are certified in the US, we do have
the right to fly. I don't completely understand the legal logistics of the
differences but as long as you can demonstrate capability they cannot deny
you very easily, they can only suspend, and that usually only for one year
maximum.
However there are other ways they can make you so miserable you just go away
and buy a boat instead.

They are actually certificated, not certified or licensed. the slang is
getting to everyone.
