I bought the whole Nuvite package at Oshkosh last year. Haven't
started polishing yet, but plan to.
Do you get much glare from the sun off your wings?
Did you polish the bottom of your airplane? Is it holding up? Is
it easy to clean bugs off?
Thanks!

I did get some glare on my 601 HDS and had planned to paint the strip
that covers the wing roots but never got around to it. The glare was
livable and usually only a problem early in the morning or later in
the day.
I did polish the bottom and it made it easier to keep it clean.
The polish held up great. It took about 50 hours to do the initial
polishing and less than 5 hours per year in upkeep. The latter
involved soaking a towel with water and wiping the leading edges down
after each flight and then taking a dry towel to finish. Each such
action took less than 5 minutes. The polish held up for four years
and looked great when the aircraft was sold.

I was thinking about polishing each section as I completed it. What tools are needed to polish?
Also, how are you storing them? Is long term dust a problem?

Andy,
Go to http://www.nuvitechemical.com. Look for non-clad polishing procedures under the 'aircraft' and 'procedures' tabs. There are also links to their products. I am currently polishing my XL with F9.
Good Luck.

Pat, good point! Actually we did meet briefly at Oshkosh last year one afternoon on the flight line. I believe it was just as the 601XL from the new england area arrived after the air show and we both looked it over for a while. Hopefully my polished XL will be the one with the military theme to it. I am still working on this idea and have a ways to go.
Good luck,

I want to go with a military theme too. Problem is, the 601 series doesn't really lend itself well to that idea. Maybe it's the side by side thing.
Polished and with the flaps down and taildragger mode, maybe something like this p-51 mustang polish/paint job would look good.

Someone has a 601HD painted as "Old Crow", I've see it at Oshkosh a
couple of times.
