Thanks to those who responded to my problems with high fuel pressure and the Manifold Press gauge which pegs when the radio is keyed.
As usual, I did something dumb - there are two fuel gauges available from Van's; I ordered and Installed the one for an injected engine, which goes from 0-50 psi. The gauge needle is at the one o'clock position when the engine is running, which on the injected version of the gauge is 30 psi. From the picture in Van's catalog, one o'clock is about 8 psi on the carbureted version, just about right.
With the manifold pressure gauge, I'm thinking Kevin Horton is right about Vans gauges being sensitive to RF energy. I'll fly with it the way it is for a while, then when I get time, I'll try John Fasching's solution.
Thanks again fellow listers......
