Hi,
I'm having problems with my russian intercom in my Yak52.
Since a while, it fails to work for a while, sometimes just for a portion of
a flight, sometimes for several flights in a row , then again working for
months without failure. There is no fading in or out. It quits or comes back
completely. Tryed with different headsets, no help. Switching and changing
volume at the two selector panels no help either. There is nothing hearable,
neither in front nor in the rear.
Found that the VHF doesn't work without the intercom selected on too. No
sidetone then, and also no change in electrical load when pushing the
VHF-ptt. With both switches on, VHF works ok.
The SPU-9 box (intercom) has power and ground, same goes for the acoustic
warning board. As far as I could find associated points in the wiring
diagram, the cables are fine from connector to connector.
Am I missing something simple like a fuse or switch?
Any comments welcome!

Armin,
It sounds like you have done your homework on the problem. All audio,
including the VHF radio and ADF (normally removed) goes through the
amplifier box which as you know is under the glare shield between the two
cockpits mounted on the left side looking at it from the rear cockpit. Most
likely you have a flakey amplifier box. Finding a schematic for it may be
difficult and then even if you were able to troubleshoot the unit down to
the component level, finding a replacement for the faulty component may be
difficult to say the least.
I can find out what the repair costs will be through Termikas and see if
they have one on the shelf that they would swap with you for the repair cost
plus core charge until your unit is returned to them. Let me know if you'd
like me to do this.
