We are planning a flying trip to High Valley Resort (GA87) in north Georgia. This will be scheduled around the Memorial Day Weekend. For more information go to their website at www.highvalleyresort.com . We made 4 trips to HVR last year. The runway is grass, 2’000’ with an elevation of 2,800’ MSL. There are mountains all the way around you…you’re in a valley! The camping is wonderful and the facilities are spectacular. They also have 6 large log cabins that sleep 8, 4 single room Bunkhouses that are a single room log cabin (you use the camping facilities) and certainly tent camping. We know the owners and they are always very accommodating to us and our group. When flying in, they always have a vehicle for us to use for sight seeing, dinner, etc.
Here is our tentative plan: Depart Friday 5/23/08 around 5:30 and fly from Mobile, AL (MOB) to Monroeville, AL (MVC), eat catfish and spend the night (David’s Catfish House and the Best Western are side by side and a 7 minute walk from the airport. Depart around daybreak if weather permits. Arrive GA87 around 9:30-10:00. The return flight home will be on Monday, 5/26/08 (Memorial Day).
At present, we’re not sure if we’ll camp, stay in a Bunkhouse (single room cabin), or do the large log cabin thing (sleeps . If you have ANY interest in this, please let me know ASAP for scheduling purposes. This could be a perfect Kitfox get-a-way. It would be nice to meet a few more Fox owners. If you have ANY interest in this, please let me know ASAP for scheduling purposes. Hope to hear from you.

Luis,
Great. I think we will be camping as well. Have you ever been there? If not let me know. I hope we can have several Fox's make the trip. It looks like some of our regular followers won't be making the trip from the Mobile area. ...However, we'll be there!

I have received several confirmations. However, our flight plans have changed. After departing Mobile, AL on Friday afternoon, we will fly direct to Alexander City, AL (ALX) and spend the night there. Departing EARLY Saturday morning for High Valley Resort.
Hope to see some more Kitfoxes there!

How about planning a barbecue? If we can use their grill, I can bring some burgers and dogs.. It's only a one hour trip for me so I can take a small cooler. Or perhaps it would make more sense to wait and see how many people will actually come and then make a trip into town for provisions...

Well, I guess this was a bust. Beautiful weather but no planes. Looks like
a planning committee needs to be established.

Why a bust? My planned flight to the Mid-Atlantic Air Show was OBE so I'm really looking forward to this now. It's next weekend right?

My understanding was that it would be on the 24th. Unfortunately, I will have to work and unable to attend.

Nope...don't think it's a bust! ...I will be there!
We will arrive High Valley Resort Saturday morning, 05//24/08. For convenience, we will plan to eat at Lenny's (local shack a couple of miles away...good food!). Maybe on another trip, with a larger number of folks attending we can plan a "food thing!" We are friends with the owners and they have a full commercial kitchen in Franks Place. If we had a bunch of folks we could use that.
Louis, looking forward to seeing you. We will be on 122.750 while in flight. 122.800 is the CTAF for High Valley.
I have attached an information sheet I made for the HVR folks. It is a Word document.
