Anyone out there have a good cost on start to finish install of the
Dynon EFIS D10A?
Unit cost on their website is $2200. Is this the street price?
Plus what is the typical install? Who did your install also?
We have long since lost our attitude indicator and I have seen the
install in a few planes out there. Just wondering the total cost?

Herb,
I paid $2200 for mine last year. Great little tool. It is not bothered by acro, but doesn't quite follow through with the manoeuvers. It lags a lot in roll. Cant really rely on its information, but then again who would want to.
The installation was quite simple. I would recommend you also get the wiring harness, it is an extra $100 but simplifies the installation greatly. Plus it allows you to keep the EFIS up to date as far a software is concern.
My airplane mechanic (no avionic tech) installed the whole package(including the remote compass in the tail) in less than 5hrs. If I were a little more of a handyman, I would have done it myself in about 8hrs.

It's a great unit - it's $2200 pretty much everywhere. Use SteinAir for
harness and support - Stein is great - they are factory authorized
manufacturer of the harnesses.
It will talk to an SL30, 49X Garmin and fuel computers. Amazing tool
for the price. My install included a ton of other upgrades so I can't
help on install costs. It seems very straight forward - manual is well
written.

That is about the cheapest you will get the unit for. I have seen them for
2100 US in Trad-A-Plane but do not remember who had them. With the wiring
harness, OAT probe (need it if you want winds aloft and the unit to
automatically compute density altitude), and remote gyro (you want this),
the cost will be around $2500. For the money, you cannot beat it. Couple it
to you GPS (it works well with Garmin handhelds and panel mounts) and your
fuel flow computer) and you have about all the cross country info you can
stand for XC. Click on the second page for nav (if you have coupled your GPS
and SL 30 up to the unit) and you have full up HIS. For an additional $100
(about), you can add their heated Pitot probe for AOA info too.
I have the Dynon with all the bells and whistles in my 50. Well not the AOA
probe, yet!
I have flown it in weather without difficulty. The software Version 5.0 has
made the pitch and roll more sensitive than the earlier software versions.
The heading tape slops back and forth like the whiskey compass with this
software version also! That feature I do not like. I find I look more at the
GPS for heading info than the Dynon D10A.
Overall, I give it 4 thumbs up! Especially for the cost and what you get for
the money!

Also worth looking at the Enigma & Odyssey from MGL avionics. Have not
tried it but they now have a sensor package that is fully aerobatic in terms
of keeping up with roll rates etc.
About the same price.
