I have a softcomm ATC-2PS intercom (panel mounted) and I have a problem to
hook this up to a ICOM A20 radio (handheld). The problem is the MIC.
The intercom works fine, but it will not transmit when I push PTT (the
display shows TX, but no audio Is transmitting). I think the problem is from
the 2.5mm MIC plug to the PTT and Intercom. The wiring diagram from ICOM and
Softcomm do not exactly shows this interface should be. Have tried GOOGLE
but no luck. Hope any of you have a experience with this.

Thanks

Geir Olav

Geir,
Most handheld solid state transceivers are keyed by grounding the MIC+
through a resistor, usually in the 10K ohm to 50K ohm range. I think the
Icom A20 requires a 22K ohm resistor, but be careful! You might want to
install a 50K ohm potentiometer and start with the high end resistance,
reducing in small increments until you have the desired results. Then
replace with a fixed resistance equal to the measured potentiometer setting
that gives reliable keying. The resistor is installed in series with the PTT
input to your intercom from the handheld keying wire (usually the tip of the
plug).
