Hi Listers,
I had an old web camera set up in my garage when I was building our first 701 and had quiet a few folks visit and look at the construction progress. I usually work a little every day as soon as I get through with my supervisor's list. She is a hard taskmaster.
Anyway, my buddy and I bought an abandoned project and have started building another 701. We found one in Kingman, AZ and started work on it a couple of weeks ago. We also searched for and found a used 912ULS engine with just 382 hours. I think it belonged to a retired school teacher who just flew it to church and back on Sunday morning at 4900 RPM (big grin). Actually, I think we found a very well maintained engine. The logs are very detailed.
And yes, there are problems with buying a used, partially finished kit. I tried to write about it and sent it to Jon Croke to include in his Newsletter. Hopefully it will be interesting reading.
