Good morning Kitfox group
I need some advise on installing the new LP plastics windshield/skylight in my Kitfox model 3.
Do you use the tabs on the door posts for attaching the new, thicker windshield?  The bottom one seems to be at about the right angle but as I go up to the next ones, they are angled inward more and more and I am afraid to try pulling the plastic in to meet the tabs.  Also, does one still use the aluminum angle that went around the door post and windshield, if so it looks like it will need to be bent out some to accomodate the thicker window material.  The install kit includes three different length screws, most of which are over an inch long.  Where are those longer screws to be used?  Looks like a half inch screw would handle everything.  Am I missing something?

I have a Model IV that I installed an LP windshield on, and I bent
the door post tabs to more closely match the windshield angle. I did
use the aluminum angle (channel, actually) and admittedly, it's bear
to line it all up, especially being thicker and stronger, but it can
be done. I used the longer bolts to help draw the windshield into
place, and when it was all to my satisfaction, installed the correct
length bolts as needed. Remember, you are trying to make the
windshield fit snug up against the door post, and if the tab doesn't
exactly contact the 'shield, it doesn't really matter, because you
are installing self-locking nuts, which will hold the 'shield to the
post. Certainly don't just draw the nuts down until they squeeze
everything together, because the windshield might crack. If the
windshield is flat/flush against the post, that's all that matters.
When the aluminum channel is installed, you'll have a very smooth
transition from the channel to the windshield, and the windshield
will be flat against the post, the nuts will be tight and you'll be
done.
When I did mine, I had the additional problem of installing clips on
the bolts to hold my wiring and pitot tubing secure, so some of those
longer bolts will be utilized...six hands helps, too.
