Owner complained that the fuel leak was fixed by his mechanic last year but it still leaks.
I removed the access covers and peeked inside. No fewer than 6, and as many as 8, attempts to reseal the tank. There is red, orange, black, brown, gray, and, of course, lo-adhesive sealant all over the place in the tank. Oh, yea, there is also a green coating all over the bottom of the filler neck that looks like epoxy. The lo-ad sealant is smeared all over the spar; perhaps the guy thought the spar was leaking. The guy who put in the red stuff must have believed it was leaking though the skin since it is spread all over every flat surface except the area where it 'MIGHT' be leaking. The green epoxy is all over the area between the two ribs (on the outside of the tank) where both the tank and the middle wing panel come together. There is lo-ad sealant dripping all over both ribs also.
I removed the wing and started scraping. I scraped for 3 hours on it today and managed to clean an area about 9 sq inches. This one will cost somewhere in the $2500 to $3000 range.
