secret.
While gary had a unique way of making his point, I'm thinking the term "Cruise Flight" covers a wide range of speeds and power settings. With the M-14P, Cruise I and II settings are specified along with fuel consumption figures.

Flying my CJ in formation with Yak-52's yields a burn of 9.2 gph vs 14 gph for the Yaks. However, at the same power settings my engine yields the same burn, just a bit more speed. Soooo, this years "commute" to Oshkosh will be done at leisurely speeds, with an eye on the NMPG readout on the JPI, playing the winds, etc.
All said, picking the cheaper fuel stops could help more than lots of careful manipulation of the engine levers.
