|
|
I am plans building a 701. I am ready to cut the fuselage skins (7-F-2), and
noticed that there is an additional line of 15 or 20MM added to the
outside straight line. What is the reason for this? Is there an engineering
reason to create a curved line rather than a straight line?
Your input would be helpful. THANKS SteveRusell Paris, TX

The extra 15 to 20 mm creates a balloon shaped fuselage which is stronger
because it uses the strength of the skins IE rather than compressing and
buckling, it tries to stretch the skin when ever tension is placed on the
fuselage in any direction.
