See attached pic.

Acquired a block that is an RX (good number according to WW's conversion manual) but it has a hole below the lifters that I haven't seen on any other block. Can somebody tell me what the hole is for?

That is where the dipstick tube goes in a FC corvair. RX is a
replacement case that had holes and bosses for all various models of all
years.

Thanks for the response. So it's good to use, just need to plug the hole? Seems kinda big for a dipstick, it's about 1 & 1/8 across

That is for the oil fill tube on the corvair van. A 1 1/16 freeze plug is how I will seal the one I have.

Thanks for the reply Roy. It did cross my mind that it was the oil fill tube but I'd never seen it before.
