I seem to have my own blog going.
I tried the dental floss. One strand didn't last very long. 4 strands, I was able to cut into the sealant. Let's say, on a 1 to 10 scale, the floss was a 5. It worked, but, not that well.
Then I tried a piece of belt sander sand paper. This stuff is only 1/4 inches wide. I put the smooth side against the
spar and used the edge to cut the sealant. It wasn't easy, I'd give it a 7 in the difficult department. But, it did work quite well. I was able to cut through about 5 inches in an hour. Then, I could pick out the sealant with forceps.
I've got about 35 hours in the tank so far. It looks pretty clean now. The only area left is the area adjacent to the spar and wing skin. This is only an area about 5 sq inches on the top of the spar and 5 sq inches on the bottom of the spar. So, somewhere around another 8 hours and I'll be able to install the sealant.
