This accident happened in August, 2007. it is the only fatal accident in the 10 year history of the Sonex. The most likely cause of the accident was a medical problem. The pilot's glucose levels in his urine were through the roof. There should be no glucose in your urine. For this level to occur means his blood glucose levels were probably astronomical. The pilot had a long history of diabetes. a very high blood glucose level can cause confusion, spacial disorientation, and even coma.

According to the Sonex Web site, as of Feb. 2008 they had received reports of just over 200 flying Sonex's. Something like 1200 sets of plans and/or kits have been sold.
