Hello,
This aircraft is obviously being built by email....... I have no
914ers nearby.
What baffles is the extension of the ignition wires from the Rotax
leads A and B onward.
\The manual instructs that it consist of 0.75mm gauge enclosed in grounded
coax (shielding) at both ends. Thing is, they end in simple metal tubing
about 3mm in diameter.
How then does one accede to the shielding advice, especially since
NA standard wires don't mesh in any way? Your sage advice once more eagerly
awaited.
Cheers, Ferg Kyle

Hi Ferg,

Intenet is great. You will always get so many opinions that there is at least one right amongst the rubbish. This answer is rubbish, because i don't quite grab the question Smile It's shielded wire that's called for allright. Connect the shields on the engine ground only for best result. Coax is shielded, but shielded wire is not always coax. Shielded AC quality wire is readily available. Don't quite understand where you see those ignition kill wires in 3 mm tubing though.

Regards,

Jos

Hi! Fred
I don't know how far back your engine number is but those previous to
mine used "bullet" connectors (mine has a special "probe" type connector
and rubber grommets to pick up the grounding lead core) probably yours
has the bullet female sockets for the lead core then you make up a
connection to the braided outer shield wire with an eyelet and connect
them to a grounding bolt on the engine.
I would expect that what you are calling "metal tubing" is a non
conductor type of sheath. However be sure that you are in the right
holes otherwise you can't stop the damned engine.
The diagrams provided by Rotax were very poor on understandable.
I found out the hard way..., !
