Hi Listers, I have purchased a Yak 18t, soon to be flying, and thought I would investigate suitable noise cancelling headsets.
There a few available and would be interested to get your recommendations as to which model to purchase that work best at reducing the noise (inside the cockpit), at the frequencies produced by the M14P.
Cheers, Phil Gower.

I have used several types and believe –
<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>For Yak-52 and similar the Bose Series II are the best (this is the second generation of their ANR headsets – although heavy they handle the environment quite well).
<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>For everything else the Bose X is great (much lighter than the Series II)
<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>A close second is the LIghtspeed 30G although in the Yak they cannot handle the take off – at cruise they are fine.

I use the David Clark H10-13 (when not using a helmet) I like the noise canceling AND i think it one of the quietest and comfortable of the traditional headset styles when the noise cancelling is off. The battery module has an auto off feature. It also fits the leather flight helmet from gibson and Barnes.

I use the Clarity Aloft very light headset in my Yak 50. I own a Bose headset, David Clarks, Telexes, and have used a host of others, with and without aerobatic helmets. The Clarity Alofts are the best. Once you get the earbud fit right, they are as quiet as the best ANR headsets. They weigh nothing and their wireframe holds them on through all negative and positive maneuvers.
They also facilitate cooling.
They take up about as much space as a pair of sunglasses, so you can wear them inside a helmet.
