How has everyone been creating antenna wires? Is there a good 'cheap' tool for crimping on BNC connectors? I know we can purchase the bulk wire and connectors, we are just not sure if there is a good reliable way of crimping on the connectors. The alternate question would be, does anyone have a good source for a company that will make custom antenna wires (we specify the length and connectors)?
Thanks, Jason Kreidler

The crimping is easy, and I think I got my crimper from
Stein. The BNC and TNC connectors I use are "crimp or solder"
terminals also for the center conductor, but I've soldered
all of mine. The external crimp is nothing to worry about.

Jason,
I highly recommend you contact Stein (Stein(at)Steinair.com (Stein(at)Steinair.com)) for wire, tools, panels, and/or cabling. He has good prices and can be very helpful for homebuilt panels and wiring.
(no association, just a happy customer)

You will want a good crimp tool for all your electrical work. Get one with replaceable dies that will satisfy your many tasks.
I have a Paladin Classic 1302 crimp tool. For coax, I use the 2034 die. The 2035 die is a good die for crimping most of the small (10-22AWG) electrical connectors in the RV-10.

I got crimper from Stein and it works great...Coax connections were the easiest of all the crimps. I picked up a 3 blade rotary coax stripper on ebay that does a perfect job removing the insulation.

I would certainly get the tool from Stein. You can get one crimper and two dies, one for the ring terminals and one for the coax. That is much better than getting cables already made, because routing a coax cable is much easier than routing a connector, especially through a conduit or snap bushing that is already fairly full. I have done that before and it is a nightmare. It would be cheaper to get the tool and connectors than to get the cables already made, probably, and it will save you a lot of hastle.
