For the early group of RV-10 HQ campsites, they're all staked out and
secured now, so you have a presence at OSH!
When it's cool enough tonight that I want to sit on a PC and update
the website, I'll try to post actual photos, but I did draw up this
drawing quick so you could see the site location.
There is a site map link on this page:
http://www.myrv10.com/osh/2008_Campsites.html
That takes you here to see the currently staked sites:

Scholler is filling up faster than previous years. Sites around us were
filled that previously would have been wide open for the staking.
We ended up getting some of the same sites that we have had in previous
years, that are about as close as you can expect to get to the
flightline without being way ahead in your stakeout. 6 of the sites
of our neighbors had grass that was real long, indicating that they
were staked out probably a week or more ago. We were, however, able
to get all of group 1's sites contiguous.
Group 2 will be staked out by Bob Condrey on Tuesday, and will
*possibly* be connected to the same row, as there were more
vacancies right next to us, but will likely be a row or two
West.
I will update the large site map later once their sites are staked,
but by early next week you should be able to have the locations of
all of the RV-10HQ areas, so you can find them for post-show
relaxation!
That's all for now, but I have actual photos of the area
and from the flight today. It was an awesome flight with my
daughter to go there, starting out with 1 mile viz in fog
and drizzle with 300' ceilings for the departure. Started
blowing out the top at 4000', and then through some additional
higher clouds until we topped out at 9000'. A PERFECT
example of a day where an instrument rating turned a no-go day
into a very very beautiful and simple VFR on top flight that
ended with an actual but simple IFR approach to 36 at OSH!
ONE WORD OF WARNING FOR ALL WHO WANT TO CAMP: This year with
the show bleeding into August, they will NOT let you register
a site until you are renewed on your EAA membership at least
to cover the month of August. Since I renew at the show
every year, this meant I had to renew today, and I had to pay
for the renewal of another camping member also. So please
if you're camping, save Bob the additional headaches and RENEW
IMMEDIATELY before he registers you!
