Well here I am back again C thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer the questions.
Once again I have parts that are not covered by my manual for my Kitfox 4.  In the manual
I have C it shows an older (I think) style door handle and that does me no good.  I'll attach a
couple of pics of the parts I have C I know if I see a picture of them in action it will all be clear C
but right now I can't figure how they go togeather.  Thanks again for all  the help.  Jim Chuk   Kitfox 4  MN

Jim,
I just happen to have a couple door handle pictures handy. The instructions say to install it half way between the front of the seat and the front door post. You can see mine is installed at the center of the door. A little difficult to open in a hurry if someone isn't familiar with my Kitfox, but holds both front and rear of the door closed tight.

Also note the "Striker plate that is epoxied to the fuselage tube.

Tom,
I made my own. Looks just like the one in the forwarded pix.Mine must have
been an earlier model( 92 ) and had a bar from front to back. Like the one I
made much better. Working fine for 500 hrs. Can send pix of mine if you
still can't figure out how to mount it. Larry Huntley

Jim, the large hole is to attach a round knob. The two small holes the instructions say to match drill through into the "Saddle" where you install the plastic "Detent rivet". I didn't do any of that.

One important note is the instructions emphasize to epoxy the striker plate on to the fuselage tubing. Do not drill and rivet for structural reasons.

I guess it really hurts to find out after all this time that I was seriously
out of the loop. I used the factory handle and absolutely never had any
issues with it what-so-ever. I wish I had known I did it all wrong. The
only change from Tom's installation was to place the striker plate butting
against the front edge of the seat pan. I am sure it isn't as much fun
checking for proper door closure when accompanied by that rare sweet young
thing, but it worked for me.

The other optional latch available at the time was the double pin door latch
that came with the speedster. That apparently didn't work well as the
bottom of the door would spring open a bit because the double pin thing was
mid door fore and aft.

The detent rivets help hold the handle in position when opened, and
also when closed. The plastic rivet heads wear out after a
while...mine did...but if you are careful to not let the door bang
shut with the inside handle lowered so as to hit the fabric, you
shouldn't have a problem.

Someone mentioned figuring out how to open the door from the outside
in case of emergency....my tech inspector insisted that I get...and I
did...placards from Spruce that read "open" with an arrow showing
rotation direction. These can be applied from inside, and they are a
sure way to keep some excited ambulance worker from ruining your
door...that is in case YOU haven't ruined it already. : )

I love my double pin latch. I feel very secure with it because you
can really lurch against it and it feels very solidly engaged when
closed. I also had the lower latch and installed it too, as I had
heard of others having the door "suck out" at the bottom...this can
be a nuisance in the wintertime.
