Hello Jim

I had to do quite a bit of experimenting during the installation of the cooling ducts with my Jab - biggest problem I ended up having was the inlet area of my oil cooler was way to big and this was pressuring up the lower cowl area. I reduced the inlet opening to 4" x 1-1/2" and added some additional exit area below the cooler and saw a significant temp drop.

If you want a good contact for Kitfox / Jab installations you can also contact Dave Jalanti as he is now a dealer for Jabiru in the USA and is a wealth of knowledge on Kitfox installations - he's also a really nice guy and has helped me a lot! His Company is called jabiru power solutions:

By the way after Lynn's comment about my airspeed I checked my ASI against a friend's plane today and it looks like I am reading about 8 mph high - Damn!

This brings my cruise back to 107mph - still great, but for a while there I was getting really excited.

I have a really fast ASI for sale if anybody's interested !!!!!!

Regards

Gary

Gary,
It sounds like you have it all together. Good for you. I am in the process of installing a 3300 on my Kitfox S5. I am working on a custom cowling and am doing some redesign after all of the emphasis on getting proper pressure drop. I have been away from home for two months and am about to get serious about the project again.

Interesting about your airspeed indicator, Gary....I've always
suspected mine to be a bit low. My groundspeed (GPS) seems to always
show higher unless I am in a pretty good headwind. I'm going to look
into getting mine calibrated.
