Here is a much needed news flash.
Today two pilots entered an experimental Zenith 601XL airplane powered
by a Corvair 2700 engine, left the ground, and had a safe flight which
included 3 intentional landings and about an hour or so of flying. The
amazing thing is the Zodiac Canopy remained latched (original design),
the wings also remained in their original design location and the engine
purred like a kitten. At no time did we fly beyond the maneuvering speed
of the aircraft
I want to publicly thank Dr. Gary Ray for a very enjoyable flight and
conversation.
This is the very same airplane I am scratch building and it was just
what I needed to get me back at it.
