I cannot find this advice in my old assembly manual and figured I'd ask the list. Do you varnish new ribs before or after gluing them in?? It might be better to reply to occom(at)ns.sympatico.ca (occom(at)ns.sympatico.ca) rather than start an argument if it can go both ways.

Hi Dave,

I found the procedure in my builders manual. Varnish after all assembly on
the wing is complete. It is part of the wing pre-cover porcedures.

Now, what about on the HS and elevators? Some of the ribs butt up against cross members, and if you glue them first, than you can't do the area next to the cross member? Should I varnish them and then scuff them before gluing? Also I must have new style ribs. Instead of cutting a slit so you can twist the rib over the diagonal members, these are slit all the way to the end. Should I close this slit also?

Jorge,
I glued first and then varnished them in place. I think that that is the
best way.
