I've been told there is a way to neutralize used alodine solution so it
is safe to dispose of. (It has hexavalent chromium in it as do some
primers - strontium chromate, I think - which is a carcinogen.) The
process involves adding sulphuric acide and something else. Does any
one know the details of this process?

Actually the newer MIL-C-5541 Type II chem film solutions meet RoHS requirements by not containing hexavalent chromium.
