All said and done C does anyone know what the cost are on the shipping of the prop to an MT assembly center C the cost of assembly and then the cost back to your door step. These are additional costs that need to be worked into the equation.

Thanks C

Jim Ayers out here in California offers MT props, last year he had an offer that was pretty good, that was before the Van's 1K discount for getting the engine and prop together.
Check with him since you would need to go through him anyway since he's a assembly center. lessdragprod(at)aol.com (lessdragprod(at)aol.com)

I had to pay an import agent $250 to get mine out of customs, customs would not deal directly with me. There is no duty for personal use items. It was a real pain dealing with customs, the agents were not polite, helpful or should I jsut say they were typical of most government agencies I've dealt with...BUT He did manage to whip out a whole list of import agents within a mile that he would be happy to deal with instead of me. Soooooo my next airplane will have an American made product on the nose thanks to the BS.

I admit that deceiving since Van's specifically states when ordering "Prices include shipping from Germany to the nearest assembly center (see reverse). The customer is responsible for choosing the appropriate assembly center, assembly charges and shipping charges (if any) between the assembly center and final destination."

Why did you need to do anything with customs? I would think the assembly center receives the prop and if they do nothing and have you pick it up (at the assembly centert) than that meets what is advertised, otherwise not what is covered on the order form.

Mine came in the box from the factory assembled and tested...Jim said it was the easiest way..and short of customs...it was. Since it came FedEx international customs required the package to be declared and inspected...of which I wasn't good enough to do along with them.

I bought mine from Jim at Less Drag Products and he had iit sent assembled from Germany. Saved me some bucks doing it that way. It has to be shipped to an airport with customs, but that worked for me in Minneapolis. I had to pay a customs broker a few bucks to shepherd it through the government maze, but it was still quite a bit cheaper than sending it to the nearest assembly center, (Chicago in my case)paying for assembly, and then paying to have it sent to me or driving six hours each way to pick it up myself.

I ordered mine through Van's. It was delivered to Redding (American Propellor?) and they had it assembled ($600 +-) and free delivery since they were delivery others in the area at the same time. No problems whatsover.

Hi All,

Van's Aircraft sells the MT Propeller shipped disassembled to the closest MT Propeller assembly to you. The $360 shipping cost for shipping disassembled is included in Van's price for the MT Propeller.
Less Drag Products, Inc. matches Van's price, except the $360 disassembled shipping cost can be applied to the cost of shipping the propeller assembled to the closest international airport to the customer. The shipping method is discussed with the customer, since the total cost is affected, and shipping handling capabilities of each customer vary so greatly.

As has been already stated, the customer will need to pay for the propeller assembly ($350 to $800) plus transportation to themselves from the assembly facility. Included in this cost is a customs fee of about $30 for processing the customs paperwork. This fee is charged to the receiving assembly facility.

Until recently, all MT Propeller shipments were made by UPS. The UPS shipping system has been consistent and predictable. Shipments disassembled to an authorized MT propeller assembly facility arriver within two days. The same for assembled propellers sent to the closest international airport to the customer.

Rick Sked has talked about the FEDEX delivery of his assembled MT Propeller to the closest international airport to him. A few FEDEX deliveries have been made fairly recently. It has been my experience, like Rick Sked's, that the FEDEX deliveries do not go as smoothly as the UPS delivered. Particularly with FEDEX's handling of the customs paperwork.
In all fairness to FEDEX, this could be a result of our own ever changing homeland security requirements.

Less Drag Products, Inc. tries to go over the shipping options in detail with each customer to work with their requirements.
I have including MT Propeller in the distribution of this Email so they can have the opportunity to review their shipping procedures.

Regards,
Jim Ayers
Less Drag Products, Inc.
