headset directly into the radio and it was worse. It seems that the
PSE intercom has worked best, but still leaves alot to be desired.

I borrowed a trick from the open cockpit fraternity. I
turned down the mic gain, (available internally on my Icom A200,) and
spoke louder. This raises the signal/noise and renders my speech much
more legible. My system is the cheap Lightspeed headset, Icom A200
com, and SP400 intercom.

stroke, not an electrical or interference noise.

One more thing. It's always good to check the simple things.
Make sure your mic's turned around the right way. One side has the
noise cancelling mic and the other the voice mic. If they're turned
around, (it's easy to do,) your signal / noise goes right into the toilet.
