Hi All
Where are people putting their static ports if you are using the Dynon systems. The wing pitot and Angle of Attack are out on the wing, some builders put the static at the rear fuse area. Whats the best location ?? I dont want to end up with a swiss cheese aircraft. Where is the static ports on an AMD?
Handing Over.
Chris.

AMD uses a single blade pitot/static port most of the way out on the left
wing.

Even on the ones that have the Dynon EFIS? If so then where are they getting the AOA data from?

I didn't look at the EFIS-equipped ones that closely, but I expect that they
use an AOA sensor out on the wing as well.

I posed this question some months ago (could be a year or more - time
flies!) and got some very helpful replies, so they should be in the archive.
I followed Mark Townsend's advice a put mine 150 mm back from the firewall
rivet line and 150mm down from the Longerons. I haven't flown yet, so I
can't speak from experience.

do not archive, as this information should already be there.

I am using my Lift reserve indicator for airspeed indication and installed static ports on either side of the fuselage above and rearward of the vent ducts. Basically as close to the upper longeron and the rear most vertical angle brace as I could get it. I haven't flown yet but in fast taxi testing with calm winds the altimeter is accurate and stable and airspeed indication tracks my GPS groundspeed. I should have flight data in the next couple weeks.

Chris,
From the "FWIW" column. My research on location, (using Dynon AOA also), into static ports...I found some discussion in the Matronics RV group. They seem to agree on a location in rear fuselage, low on the side. I used two ports, one on either side, connected in middle and single tube run forward to Dynon.
Haven't flown yet, so can't tell you how it works.
