Hi Tom  Thanks for the reply and photo.  I went back into the archives and found a few references to .250 rather than the .194 my manual shows.  When I tried that dimention it looked like it would work out okey.  That isn't even 1/16" difference and so I'll probably go with that.  Thanks again  Jim Chuk   Kitfox 4 building  Avid MK IV flying   Mn

I had the same concern when I did this step in construction. I just went out and measured mine and they are .2 in back from the trailing edge. The fabric and paint won't increase the thickness enough to detect when you do the final assembly.

To make sure everything was lined up and would work freely I drilled the holes in the wing ribs with the flaperon bolted to the brackets. When I did the final assembly I used the same procedure to prevent any miss alignment of the hinge bolt holes.

For the rear rivet hole (nearest the trailing edge) be sure there is clearance to seat the rivet without hitting the opposite side rib cap strip.

As far as your question on how critical the .194 inch dimension is. I don't
think it is critical as long as you don't short yourself on room for that rear rivet in the bracket.

A tip. When you drill the bracket holes in the ribs C use a sharp bit and go slow when it hits the aluminum backing epoxied on the inside of the cap strips. I pushed a couple of those off with the drill bit and had to re-epoxy them. Probably would be a good idea to clamp or block that aluminum strip in place so it can't be pushed off while you drill.

I scanned a picture and attached. Not sure if it will show up well or not.
