well after a year long re-build, KF 92DR took to the sky's once again on 9-12-08. First flight was uneventful and she flew very nice. Second flight got hairy when I lost the left brake on roll out.... good thing it was raining and the runway was wet or it could have been ugly. As it was I ended up doing a ground loop at about 10 MPH.

The plane is owed by a buddy and he did the re-build, I just got the honors of doing the "maiden". Nice job Bob, Now get busy on the Model III !

Leonard:

That landing gear looks wider and higher than the original. Is it that the one sold by Airdale? By the way, the plane looks great!

Leonard:

How the handling compares with the standard landing gear?

Night and day difference! the wide gear is MUCH better, and with it being taller, you can get in the air quicker and land slower.

Kitfox is coming out with a wider and taller gear that has PA-18 looks to it. No more bungies from what I saw. I would be very tempted to get that gear if I had not allready bought the wide gear for mine from Airdale.

Leonard - yet another groundloop due to left brake fading...

See my recent thread titled "Give me a brake!"
http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?t=47744. I just received the
rebuild kit from Matco for $8.88 to fix mine.

yeah and I am the one that told you where to get the rebuild kit lol...

We had ordered a rebuild kit, but it had not come in yet and I had pulled them apart and cleaned them up. I figured what the heck, it seems to be working ok in the garage...... We now have 4 rebuild kits on hand.

What goes around comes around hey Leonard?<g> Especially with a squishy left
brake at 10mph!

I am rebuilding mine tonight in fact - note that the plug *must* be attached
with a special adhesive - "Black Max" Loctite 380, not available in your
average hardware store. I managed to get a tiny tube at an affordable price
on the Net - normal 1 oz bottles go for about $28 I think I remember, which
is a lot to spend for the few drops required!
