The Capital-Journal
Published Monday, August 18, 2008
OLSBURG — An ultra-light plane crash Saturday evening north of Manhattan
sent the pilot to a Topeka hospital with injuries he sustained in the
accident, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.
The pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft, was identified as
Bill Johnson, 58, of Olsburg. He was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health
Center in Topeka, the patrol said.
The crash occurred when the engine stalled in the homemade Kolb UltraStar
plane that Johnson was piloting, the patrol said. The plane went down near
Booth Creek, a half-mile south of K-16 highway in Pottawatomie County.
