Bob,

  Those senders are notorious for failing. I talked to another member who had two fail.  My temp gauge(Westach quad) had the temp go to full hot right after take off and really got my attention until I saw the oil temp,egt,etc all in the green. The needle finally went to "0" by the time I had landed.

  I bought a new sender from Lockwood,installed it and problem solved. I also have a spare to install when this one goes bad.

  The sender, I would guess, is probably your problem. I also had to replace the oil pressure sender because the gauge was reading too low compared to a known accurate gauge. Now after about 10 hrs of flying, the oil pressure gauge is flickering from time to time. I guess a digital "glass gauge" might be better.

  Good luck! It seems to be one hour flying and 5 hrs working on the engine! I am trying to figure out how to install Velcro cowl fasteners as it seems I have the cowling off more than on.
