I experienced the same thing with Trutak . I installed mine behind the rear spar. It fits well but keep in mind I haven’t flown yet. I attached a Tray to the rear spar that extended rearward.
I also fabricated a new mounting fixture. Let me know if you want some pictures.

Has anyone fitted a Trutrak 2 axis auto pilot to a 601 XL?
I,m trying to fit the altitude hold servo and it will not go where trutraks drawing shows, it interferes with the rudder cable.
Any help would be apreciated.Two emails and two phone calls to trutrak and have had no response.
