Where is everyone installing their inspection plates for the wings? I called ZAC and they referred me to the Construction Standards on the website, which basically tells me nothing.

I'm thinking an inspection plate should be installed between the third and fourth rib to inspect the strut attachment points and another installed near the tip (maybe on top?) to inspect/repair the nav/strobe lights. Where is everyone else putting theirs (if any)?

Thanks,

I went with small (100mm dia) inspection plates for the strut attach points as you described, plus larger ones just big enough to pull the strobe power supplies through in each wingtip. Also small inspection plates beneath each fuel tank outlet to check for leaks/deterioration and maybe pull the screens out if need be. I'm not flying yet, but it still makes sense to me.

Dan,

I have an inspection plate under each wing tank outlet. I can and have changed out the fuel line from the tank to the fuel valve at my wingroot just above the door through this opening. One valve for each tank, one always closed.

I have inspection plates over the fuel gauge senders on the top of the wing (tank).

I mounted my strobe power supplies on the spar extension at the wing tips, (saves wire weight and high voltage spikes over long wires).
My fiberglass wing tips are removable as I used anchor nuts and screws to attach them. Power supplies and tip lights are removable with the tip off. Also I can somewhat inspect the interior of the wing from here. See http://www.geocities.com/cffd66/Airplane/Strobe/Strobe.html
