Three point position is perfect for takeoffs.>>

Hi John,

Do you do that?. I know that it is a suggested method but I have never thought much of the idea. It seems to me that with the tail down there is a danger of lifting off at a very marginal speed, maybe only into ground effect in a nose high attitude. Do you then level out to gain more speed before you climb or can you just climb away?

I always lift the tail in the first few yards and then climb out when flying speed is reached being already in a flying attitude.

Does taking off tail down decrease the takeoff run needed? I may need to try it in a STOL situation one day

Cheers

Pat
