Hi Robin:

After numerous failures of the nylaflow at both the brakes (overheating) and at the master cylinders (due to movement), I finally switched to the Aeroquip TFE race quality, steel braid wrapped Teflon lined stuff that other's here in Phoenix are using. It's sold by Summit Racing.

It was a bear opening up the existing conduit in the back of the landing gear struts to accept the larger diameter hose (I soldered a Dremel tool grinding head to welding rod and even then, I had to slice the conduit open) but haven't had a failure since. I wish I had done it when building.

I have well over a 1,000 hours on my brake lines and never had a failure. When I installed mine I formed a 360 loop before installing the line and I make sure the loop is out board of the fitting in the caliper. Also, when I land and I am on roll out, I deploy the flaps to 45% and hold back on the stick and hold full aleron into the wind ( trying to get all the paddles I can into the air) When I apply brakes, I first give them a quick stab. I find forming miniature "S" turns helps slow the plane down. Opening up the hatches on roll out really slows the plane down. I guess it works because I get well over 200 hours on a set of pads.

Thanks Mike, this is just the information I am looking for. You might remember I am changing my gear to the Grove set up. While on this, I am putting the pressure recovery wheel pants on. I am looking forward to the results. I have done nothing to improve the speed in several years and hope this will be significant.

How is the healing coming? Robin
