Sending again.... first one didnt go thru.. sorry if this becomes a duplicate...
We need to obtain VIDEO of Zenith builders and flyers doing their thing (building, flying, etc) and compile it to a DVD to include in the next newsletter. The same type of videos that has been submitted to U-tube is exactly what we are looking for - first flights and the many other possible topics - but with the advantage of putting it on DVD so the family can gather round to watch high quality video and sound on your TV. Also, the ability to compile multiple submissions onto one disk allows a library of Zenith video history to be collected in one place for future viewing (when you need an attitude boost for getting back to building). High technology allows us at the Zenair Newsletter to edit and distribute video DVD disks with the newsletter at no additional cost to members! This is the perfect opportunity to use this medium to its fullest.
What we need from you:
VIDEO of you building workshop - have your significant other or children operate the video camera of YOU showing your project and describing your progress. As much as you would like to see others building - they want to see YOU, too! Provide a little self-interview of building - describe the mods you are making or techniques that others might find useful. Be funny, if you want... AND.. doesnt matter if you have 5 or 50 minutes of footage... I will edit and compile as necessary to make it work.. Raw, unedited is just FINE... I will edit.
I know the footage is out there... look at the various UTube footage floating around.... I can use that! (but I need the original footage, not the compressed computer format) Im looking for first flights, last flights!, middle flights, at the airport, etc. Some of you have footage from recent Oshkosh and other shows... kids working on Zeniths... stories told first person by pilots that fly them... As I have visited fly-ins I hear amazing stories of emergency landings, engine outs and the like... talk into the camera and submit it!
Some of you guys participate in EAA chapters and clubs... grab the man handy with the camera and shoot away... (keep it mostly Zenith related, tho!) It does not have to be polished or professional... sometimes a good 5 minutes of this or that is most entertaining and educational!
How to get your video to me:
Mail your tape to me (post office mail!) I can use either: mini-digital tape or the larger (8mm) digital tape.... or if you have video on DVD I can lift it off of that. If you have your video in an .AVI file on a CD, that is super! Dont worry if there is other stuff already on your tape (family stuff) as I will only copy off just the zenith stuff. I have the ability to edit out bad words, obscene gestures, etc so dont worry about unpolished material. I can mail the tapes/disks back to you. The understanding is that what you send me is OK to make public for the Zenith Newsletter members - just like submitting a photo. Send me as much as you wish... I will judge how much can be used, etc. I can also voice over the video if that needs to be done... just write down what we are looking at so I can accurately present the material.
When do I need it:
Now! as I need some time to edit and compile... but if you can't send it for a while and it misses my deadline, there is always another issue so NOTHING you send will get wasted! It doesnt matter how old your footage is... your first flight from 4 years ago is still very valuable to current builders that want to experience those moments.
My address:
Zenair News/Jon Croke
9186 County K
Brussels, WI 54204
Can I count on something from anyone? Drop it in the mail tomorrow? (otherwise you'll only see *my* first flights..... I'll contribute that!)
Feel free to email me direct if you have questions or ideas on other video topics that might work here. The DVD you just received in the current newsletter issue was just a start - it needs to be better!
Thanks!
Jon

Juan,
My wife walked in as I was watching your video and said "oh my, he's a hottie". Just thought I'd pass that along.
There is a website that lets you download and save most videos from the web. I've saved a lot of 601 videos from youtube using this site.

Jay in dallas,
yep it is. it was interesting to fly mine with a 3300 jab engine, then hop into the 0-200 powered one, big difference.

weight and balance and Power. the 0-200 is a little heavy in the nose, the 3300 is much higher torque and you feel it at take off and in climb. 400 fpm on the 0-200 at 70 mph climb out, versus 3300 went up at 1100 fpm at 70 mph with two aboard at climb out. much less vibration than the 0-200.
Lower RPM is felt also.
