Earl,
Does your airplane still have the complete aerodynamic elevator counterbalance - the one that goes all the way forward to the leading edge of the stabilizer? If so, you will not have the very small "dead" spot in the pitch control. If you have the modified aerodynamic counterbalance that only goes forward of the hinge line but not all the way to the leading edge, then you have just not noticed the very small "dead" spot. I doubt that anyone would notice it if you did not fly lots of close formation unless you were just looking for it. It is not a problem, but with the modified system the first very small movement of the counterbalance does not really see any appreciable airflow because initially it gets blocked by airflow over the leading edge of what use to be part of the original counterbalance. Confusing? I am having a hard time describing with words something very simple to show you if we were standing by the airplane. Anyway, Nick has once again come up with another way to build your Lightning so you can "have it your way". You and I like light stick forces, but the SLSA Lightning will need to meet ASTM standards, so that is why Nick was looking for a more normal stick force per G feel.
