The EAA is again opening nominations for the late Tony Bengelis Annual Award. As I did last year (2007), I will nominate Tim Olson for his tireless and deep commitment to the Experimental Aircraft community since beginning his RV-10 #170. Tim has been relentless in pursuit of safer Amateur Built Aircraft, his contributions continue to be invaluable and a constant resource. He has been a major player at every juncture of our kit build challenge. Any of you that agree can Give the submittal about one week before any additional supporting comments to the EAA. To Tim, it Didn't matter if it was being the mediator in the D2A fiasco on Christmas Eve, parking the scores of RV-10s at OSH, overhauling the Unison/Slick Mags or showing how a family can build a project together. It was just last Saturday that Bob Condrey reminded me of Tim's contribution to silkscreen instrument panels on the kitchen table. Tim embodies the same characteristics of Tony. Someday I dream that I can buy a book for a future Young Eagle, the definitive book authored by Tim on how to build a 21st Century Amateur Built Airplane at your own home.
Our group has been lucky that Tim encouraged us to migrate from Yahoo over to this Sharing Forum that Matt provides. Dan Lloyd #269 and I both enjoyed our discussions and assistance from Tim.
