I have attached several pictures of the fix the wingtip process. Because the
wingtips were initially fitted with the ailerons and flaps off the aircraft
, the right tip did not align with the aileron In the neutral position. To
remedy this we drilled the tip rib and removed ; then using a cutting wheel
we sliced the aft end of the end and about 12 inches up the outboard seam.
Also the tip was about 3/16" too short, so three layers of 1" tape were
inserted between the aft end and epoxied together. An angle was clamped to
the bottom to ensure match to the opposite tip. After this cures we will
trim and reinforce the inside with extra glass and putty. After riveting the
new aluminum tip in place we will repaint the tip and install.
