I have the Black CJ with the silver tanks. They have 12 gallons of fuel
each, are filled only for cross country flight and are placarded for no
aerobatics unless empty. The wing area was beefed up along with the fuel
tank access panel cover. I'm comfortable that the entire assembly is
stronger than before and will handle the 100 lbs each side when full. The
tanks have been installed for 3 years now and have had no problems. One last
note, they can be removed from the mount in about 1 minute per side by a
quick release system I designed and only the pod remains. They are great for
cross country but do slow the cruise by about 5 kts. The design could be
used as storage compartments instead of fuel.
