		Rich, I have the address at home. I will post it as soon

as I can. The place is in Wichita, KS, and is a bit pricey, but it is

memory foam. I bought mine a couple of years ago and a 4'X4' sheet (half

sheet) 1" thick was $54. I got three half sheets in three densities and

that is plenty to do the two seats. What griped my hind side was the $48

shipping fee. Total was a little over $200. That still beats the $260

unless they have raised the prices.

I would have liked to have gotten off cheaper, but I really wanted memory foam.  I spent around $230 for the foam on both my seats.  I bought like 5 each of the blue and green (firm and firmer) from Wicks.  I bought a king sized memory foam mattress topper from Wal-Mart for the soft stuff.  If I had to do it again, I would not use the really hard green foam and use all blue for the support portions.  I like it even when it is cold.  After a few minutes it warms up and I sink right down into it.

Jim and Janice Fix of Lincoln, Nebraska, are regulars at most aviation conventions selling their Confor Foam products (which have saved my rear in various airplanes over the last 15 years). It meets FAA burn specs for certified aircraft as well, and I've redone the seats in two Grumman Tigers and a Varga Kachina so far. The T-Cat is next.



It's a bit heavier than the typical cheap foam and it's not cheap for the three density, three inch thick sandwich that's best for seat bottoms, but man, does it pay off in comfort!



Check out their website at www.seatfoam.com for contact info, unfortunately I didn't see any pricing info posted.  The last time I bought a couple of squares for a Tiger, I think the total for two seats was around $120. But that was awhile ago.

 They are regulars but their prices are the highest.   Wicks has the same foam (Temprafoam/Confoam) for much more reasonable  prices.  Get blue and pink, you don't need the hard green  stuff.

The design shown in the flyer is a good place to start, but I would  

recommend making the seat backs and seat bottoms as separate  

assemblies for easier removal and handling. Then you can flip the seat  

backs forward out of the way for access behind the seat without  

worrying about cracking the foam in cold weather.

That is exactly what I plan to do. I also ordered an extra piece of the soft softer foam for an arm rest and to add lumbar supports.



This thread reminded me I needed to order and did this morning. And the price is still the same.

This is the way AMD does it. The seat backs, from the hinge up, are one

piece; the bottoms are another. The seat bottoms are attached by Velcro at

the front, and dom't move at all unless you want them to. Works very well.

If you just want to buy memory foam you can get it at Jo Ann Fabrics 

Store, I think I paid about $90 for  twin bed sheet of foam. I can't be 

sure because it was a couple of years ago.

Hi Rick,

I went thru this same problem a few years back and bought $150 worth of 

foam and started laminating and gluing it into a monster block.  Then I 

got a local upholsterer to look at it. It would have been hundreds more 

to get it upholstered. A few weeks later I was at Aircraft Spruce and 

saw their "booster seats" by Nelson in the showroom and had a brain 

storm (fart) and bought two of them.  I unzipped the side and bottom 

panel and replaced the cheap white foam with memory foam.  The vendors 

of memory foam usually sell exactly the same size of pad as the original 

ones that come in the seats.

      It saved me hundreds of bucks and looks nice, and ended my 

upholstery problems. You just set the booster in the seat pan directly 

over the bare metal.  You can get to the access area behind the seats 

easily, and  by adding or removing foam it's adjustable for height and 

back support.  Here is the link to the cushion boosters:

come in a nice conservative gray color and you can put more or less foam 

in them to customize a lumbar support or increase the butt cushioning. 

One of mine is a little thicker in the seat area so I just swap cushions 

with the passenger if that works better.

I didn't use  the ACS pads, but here is how I made mine fit the bottom seat pan.  I kerfed a piece of 1/4" plywood, pressed it down in the seat pan and filled the kerfs with epoxy. When the epoxy dried, the plywood retained the shape of the pan.  Then I glued the foam to the plywood.  The seat covers are from Pep Boys.

I built a mock-up of the seat out of plywood and scrap aluminum sheet  

and built up my seat foam on the mock-up. When you glue the layers of  

foam together in the mock-up, they will retain the shape of the seat  

bottom. My seats are just the foam covered with cloth upholstery. The  

seat bottom sits directly on the aluminum seat pan. I filled in the  

gaps at the sides of the aluminum sheet seat pan with high density  

poly foam to get a consistent surface the full width of the seat  

bottom and used a sheet of 3/16 plywood for the seat back.
