I have be a subscriber for 2 years and have learned a lot from you all.  This is my first posting.  My 601XL kit was delivered Nov. 1 2006 and it made it's first flight Nov. 17.  Gus finished the Corvair FWF install and flew the plane on the 17th.  My plane was converted to the new 650 canopy (with a change in the split seal) and the 650 rudder.  The plane is regestered as a 601XL.  The canopy conversion was done with Jon Croke and Gus in the DVD from homebuilthelp.com (I am also in the video).  So I have a 601 canopy kit complete with a Todds canopy, upgraded struts, for sale.  



The plane is being painted and a 5th bearing being installed this week.  I hope by Christmas the complete plane will be posted at www.flywithgus.com.  If you are interested in the canopy please email gus(at)flywithgus.com.  Also note this is the nice Todd canopy that he can't make or sale any more because of his agreement with Zenith (he makes the new 650 canopys).  Gus says also to note the phone number on his site has changed.

Congratulations Ray!  I too had Gus perform the first flight and after watching his pre-flight video in the Zenair newsletter, there would have been a lot of things I might have missed had he not been there.



The 650 looks great and if I weren't done and too tired to make the changes, I might be tempted to make the switch.



By the way Gus... just a short note to say thanks for putting a really superb pre-flight video together. The checks on the rudder bearings and other items made me change my POH and check-list.

The big thanks goes to Jon Croke on the video. He is a great guy to work with. We have done the latest 601xl series and the 650 canopy conversion DVDs so far. Next we will be starting the 750 series in January. I'm really excited about the 750 and I'm sure Jon is looking forward to another winter in Florida.

I am in NM but it would be fun if I was in FL.  My Plane will be at Seabring in January though.  At least that is the plan this week. Gus should be taking it to the zenith booth?
