I have now converted all my control surface hinges by using Gary Hall’s kit of Teflon tube and stainless steel wire.  

The hinges are now without any slack and will hopefully last a very long time.  

Conversion is very easy and quickly done - the tubing fits snugly in the hinge holes with no heating required.
