All-
Need a digital level to get the positioning of my D-100 display and remote compass to agree. Thought I found one at HF but on closer examination, it's a digital protractor and bubble level. Funny, that's not the description in the ad!
So where do you find one at a decent price?

Bill:

I have the Grand Rapids EFIS and I believe I have a similar problem in positioning the magnetometer. I have an APP on my IPhone called Clinometer and I believe that will permit me to level the magnetometer so that it is lined up with the EFIS. I have not done the final installation nor flown the aircraft yet so I will find later whether the gadget can do the job.

Try http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=17206&filter=digital%20angle

I got one of these things and used it a little. It works fine as long as the display is vertical. It easily measures limits of ailerons and elevator but is worthless for rudder.

I bought a digital level at Home Depot for $35.00. It is 12 inches long and has an advertised accuracy of 0.1 degrees. I think that is plenty accurate for positioning the Dynon magnetometer.

Bill, Sears (Canada) sells one for around CD$50.
If you find it at your local store, should be cheaper.
It's the size of a "torpedo level".
Paul's suggestion is pretty inexpensive, but it has a smaller base, which would make it somewhat less precise.

I've built my entire project with this $35 level from Sears. Very easy to use with a clear readout.

Stan-
I refuse to own a cell phone or they would be calling me constantly from work. Looks like I'll check out Home Depot or Lowes. A 9" should work for me.

That is the same level that I have been using on my project. I think I have spent way too much time obsessing over getting to "0.0" degrees. Which is why I'm still plugging away at >600 hours of building when I should have been flying 100 hours ago.... Smile
