Here is one solution from Wipaire.
Leonard says you need wide skis for floatation in deep powder. The problem
is that you get more friction with wide skis so they are not so good under
warm, packed conditions. The Wipaire skis are wide and narrow.
Look at the picture, I think it will be obvious.
