All-
Am I missing something? ACS offers self-adhesive intrument lettering for less than $5. Is there something wrong with this stuff?

Bill,

I got the instrument lettering sheet from ACS and another one from EAA with the registration kit. They both looked good, but neither had all of, nor exactly what I needed. The ones I got from ACS and EAA have a black background with white lettering. I have a medium gray panel. I really didn't want the old "Dymo" lettering look. That's why I went with the Brother P-Touch lettering, using white letters on a clear tape.

Hi Bill:

I used it on my panel, came out very nice. I used their black letters on a silver panel.
Need a very sharp razor blade to cut out, and very good eye sight and lots of light to get them on nice and straight.

Bill
I did the same as Jay Bannist. I think it worked well. I also purchased the labels from ACS. My main fault with them was that wouldn't fit the space constraints I was dealing with. This picture isn't great but here's a photo link:

That looks very nice. I have one question though. Can you reach all those switches from the left seat or is a SIC required in your plane? Smile

The ACS self adhesive lables work great if you have a black painted panel like mine. They would also work fine on any other panel if you cut them out neatly and don't mind the white on black lettering. ACS also used to sell white transfer lettering. This is just white letering than is rubbed off of the transparent backing onto the panel. I've used both types and they both seem to hold up well.
