list,

i can tell you by first hand experience one reason the airlines tell you to turn off cell phones during take off and landings. i was riding right seat on a practice instrument approach in a C-172. all of a sudden the Glide Slope and Localizer needles pegged against the side of the instrument. they started oscillating in a timely manner.  i removed my head set and faintly heard the pilots cell phone ringing in tune with the instrument malfunction. i would not like to be in IFR conditions when that happens.
